weight-lifting pals: i think i have to give up on deadlifts? can’t get past a certain weight (this time it was 270lbs) without seriously hurting my back. i go slow, i concentrate on having as perfect form as possible, and i still end up walking like an old man for a week. why?

Yes. Dead-lifts are great but put a lot of pressure on your spine. There are always alternatives. Do some core strengthening and focus on hamstrings for a bit.
-
This... Also try doing rack pulls for a bit to target your lower back a bit as well. You'll be able to ramp up the weight a bit this way as it's a shorter distance than a regular deadlift

Get someone who knows what they’re doing (a trainer) to help you out in person. Or, stop doing them. Pick another excercise or set of exercises that work the same muscles. If you’re hurting yourself doing any excercise, stop.

deadlifts are not something you would do in normal life, so I don't believe its worth doing. Generally you would find a better way to lift something. Just my take.

If
@LiftBigEatBig wasn’t too lanky for deadlifts to get where he is now from where he was then neither are you. 5/3/1 might not have the lower weight volume you need to get you to higher numbers. If you have a coach and you get injured continually, find a new one.Merci. Twitter en tiendra compte pour améliorer votre fil. SupprimerSupprimer

I stopped doing deadlifts a few years ago and haven’t looked back (get it). Here’s what I do for back if it helps.pic.twitter.com/XtgNPH6LFu

I would just do less weight and more reps. I don’t ever worry about my max or anything like that. For dead’s I like to burn out at around 6 reps.
-
Basically I like to have a burn out target. If I burn out on any exercise before I get 4 reps then it’s too much weight. I get much better results when I get some reps in there.
