no. 10: GRIS
@nomadastudiobcn's beautiful and melancholy platformer. such gorgeous art direction and pitch-perfect tone. I played it on Switch and loved every second.

no. 9: Yoku's Island Express a charming (and downright bizarre) metroidvania/pinball mash-up...? on paper, it shouldn't work, but it absolutely does and it's wonderful. (3/12)pic.twitter.com/PGOR2i2ilM
no. 8: The Messenger awesome bosses and a super cool "swapping" mechanic. a tough as nails love letter to Ninja Gaiden with some of the funniest dialogue in any game this year. (4/12)pic.twitter.com/ahoMxW34qW
no. 7: Tetris Effect it's probably the best version of Tetris with an absolute banger of a soundtrack. what's not to love? (5/12)pic.twitter.com/hGIEpj36Hy
no. 6: Marvel's Spider-Man an absolutely incredible Spidey story coupled with the best traversal/locomotion of any game in recent memory. playing as Spidey has never been so fun, now back to finishing that last DLC... (6/12)pic.twitter.com/HzXylVEt4O
no. 5: Florence Florence is $2.99 on the app store, takes maybe 90 minutes to complete and absolutely WRECKED me. a beautiful, brilliant little game. (7/12)pic.twitter.com/0GwnsyEGil
no. 4: Dead Cells few games stressed me out as much as Dead Cells this year (for uh... several reasons), but in the best way. a breakneck reinvention of the metroidvania genre with some of the best pixel art around. (8/12)pic.twitter.com/9864cJ8zqH
no. 3: Celeste thoughtful and (almost) frustratingly difficult, Celeste was the first game I finished in 2018, and one I kept coming back to. also, HOOO BABY, that soundtrack! (9/12)pic.twitter.com/fcwVTK7xIC
no. 2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate i spent a lot of time year talking about how i'm not a Smash player. hard cut to me sinking DOZENS of hours into this game with a big, dumb grin on my face. nothing this year feels as good as winning a match with a final smash. (10/12)pic.twitter.com/kBo32qXP4D
no. 1: God of War said this yesterday, but it bears repeating: few other games this generation wowed me like GoW did. masterful design, brilliant storytelling, and absolutely jaw-dropping art direction. (11/12)pic.twitter.com/bdZuD4cExM
LASTLY: Red Dead 2 and AC Odyssey Shout-out to two games that I loved in 2018, but haven't made the time to finish. had i reached the end of either of these two stellar epics, i assume they'd both show up near the top of my list. Okay, your turn! show me your top 10! (12/12)pic.twitter.com/oagcDuJ8Rm
