Also, they philosophically don't disagree with Trump. The GOP's major issues with Trump are that he says the quiet part out loud, he's lazy, and he's incompetent. His agenda they are down with.

It's possible, but, unlike Sanders, Trump was leading in the polling average ever since the summer. The fact that you have to go "say, Cruz" rather than there being an obvious go-to-establishment guy says a lot. Not a lot of faith in any of the 'establishment' repubs in 2016.

Yes, but one party is good at realizing that existing voters will vote for whoever the pick is, and that insurgents will bring *new* voters in as well. The other party likes silver medals, so long as nothing ever has to change.
