This obviously comes as Jocelyn Benson prepares to take office in January as the first Democratic secretary of state in 24 years. Unclear as of yet whether this is just a senator's pipe dream or a bill with legs.

Awaiting the publishing online of a series of bills introduced by Senate Republicans involving elections and campaign finance. But one of the bills is a bombshell. It would move oversight of elections and campaign finance out of the secretary of state and to a new commission.
