I wonder if many mental illnesses are status symbols? Deep and interesting people like me? Doubt these results would hold true of unfashionable things like mental retardation and severe schizophrenia.
I didn’t see this in the charts, but I worked at a mental health clinic several years. Mentally ill individuals tend to end up impoverished without a good support system. They often rely on government handouts. They believe that the Dems are responsible for the handouts
My hypothesis is that *some* of the difference is due to under diagnosis in non liberals due to many possible factors. Stigma re:mental health in some groups. Lack of reliable mental health care access... There also could be overdiagnosis by some doctors in some places.
