I have also been thinking about the extent that #digitalassistants should pretend to be human. When does it become a lie?

Don't we first have to figure out what part(s) of human interactions is a lie?

That's probably a good start. I guess at least with a human you know it's a human (mostly). With a bot/digital assistant there's a level of uncertainty there.

Yeah, but being autistic I can tell you that most human interaction where there is a provider/consumer relationship most of the exchange is automatic/conditioned language. Why I say this is because I have to do these same interactions in a very cognitive way.

But that makes me think... When you say "is a lie" are you really saying, "Is sincere?" Because though the language of provider/consumer relationships is mostly automatic, there are varying degrees of sincerity by both.

Using this new lexicon, is your question really, "will there be a point where #digitalassistants project sincerity and thus elicit sincere gratitude by the consumer?"
