Artistry is tough. It’s having incredibly thick skin and thin skin at the same time. It’s being able to see and do what others can’t while still remaining connected to them... ON TOP of whatever circumstance you’ve come from to even be able to make your art.

Can’t stop watching videos of Naomi and Serena. I have so many feelings. But while I am furious at the way this sport continues to disrespect the greatest athlete of our time, the support and compassion Black women show one another never fails to move me. What a moment.

If you raped someone in 2012 and they chose to speak on it today, you're still a rapist. "That was mad long ago" is not a plea deal. They said no and you violated their consent, you need to be penalized.

Serena did not lose. Revered as the greatest athlete of our times, her sacrifice, talent, and magnetic existence has fundamentally changed not only tennis, but the art of sport. Osaka has won precisely because of Serena and the ways she has changed the game. What a legacy.

from "random" drug tests to banning her clothing choices on court to this.. my girl has had enough. how far do they have to push her and expect her not to stand up for herself?!

Serena is the goat. It’s really disgusting how both her and Naomi Osaka (20 yrs old) have to be morally stripped out of this game and pitted against each other with a next level of viciousness simply because they are dominating Black women in this sport.

in toronto we often conflate homicides and shootings. we've had 73 homicides this year, more than all of 2017. One man has been charged with ten of those killings—he ran over people with a van. that story disappeared, the victims transplanted into the "guns and gangs" narrative

The intuitive and the spiritual are one. Our intuitive gives us an ancestral wisdom. It is the things your soul tells you to guide you while you are going through the depth of life and only after experience you understand what it truly means. A life preserving connection.

Little black babies depression is not your norm. We are obligated to relinquish the traumas we carry from spilling over in how we love you without condition. Fear is not your norm. Anger is not your norm. We are obligated to do our personal work to honour your truest possibility.

love people enough to hold them accountable even when it hurts them, or doesn’t serve in their best interests. love people enough to hold them accountable even when it hurts you. anyone you lose out of honesty, was never someone who was meant to be around in the long run.

when your bones are tired of carrying everyone else’s problems, and when your lungs are tired of breathing life into other people, return back home to yourself for a while. shift your energy back inwards. reunite with peace again.

Those you do good to will not only forget what you’ve done but many of them will go out of their way to harm you at some stage. It's the Almighty’s way of testing whether you were kind to them for His Pleasure or for your benefit.

it’s not your fault that someone’s behavior didn’t align with the future you planned. do not confuse walking away or choosing yourself with abandonment. you did what was right for your spirit.
