Hearing from a parent whose son was/is ensnared in criminal exploitation. The pain that families carry is extraordinary. It is vital that parents and carers are treated as partners in their child’s safeguarding wherever safe and possible. This requires a recalibration of power.

Report commissioned by London's VRU highlights the pivotal role of evidence in reducing violence. 'Without evaluation, the VRU and partners will not know which parts of their approach work, nor how much and where resources should be invested as a result'

Yes, we see & hear that constantly. That's why a approach is so powerful;intentionally works through & burns off shame with all affected. Theory - Braithwaite's & Nathanson's reintegrative shame. Needs earliest prevention & intervention, why wait till crime happens?

Very interesting argument that 'all violent acts are motivated by unmanaged shame', particularly when considering the role social media has in escalating tension and violent acts between young people.

Very interesting read on the UK drug market and its implications on youth crime and violence. 'Far from being a genuinely confident, hardened deviant, Nathan was, at his core, a vulnerable, anxious, and tragically insecure teenager.'

Almost half of people charged with knife killings in London over the past 3 years had previously committed an offence involving a blade. Could using police custody as a teachable moment, as delivered by , help in part reduce reoffending?
