Shocking and terribly sad. Take care of yourselves folks and all those around you.

I am so shocked and so sad to hear about the tragic death of Blake Hounshell (@NYTBlake @blakehounshell.) I met him in Cairo when I was 22, on the day I got my very first newspaper job. I was excited when he joined The Times and wish I’d spent more time hanging out with him here.

Is it a "myth" that ADL & other pro-Israel orgs, cooperated w/ a Israeli govt ministry that boasted about jointly promoting unconstitutional laws to silence critics, conducting lawfare, shutting down bank accounts & cutting off funding for human rights groups? There are receipts

This article concocts a conspiracy theory about the @Kennedy_School and the military-industrial complex and implicates Israel and the American Jewish community. It plays into antisemitic myths about power and money and draws conclusions unsupported by evidence.

Definitely would agree with shameful, not sure about curious though.

"When it comes to standing for pro-Palestinian views on campus, or criticisms of Israel, there's a curious - and I would say shameful - silence." My commentary on Harvard's decision to deny @KenRoth a fellowship, reportedly over his 'anti-Israel bias':

Palestinian alum of the Harvard Kennedy School call to reverse the denial of a fellowship to former head Ken Roth, based on his and HRW's record documenting rights abuses by the Israeli gov't. We're a global rights group. We document abuses globally.

Just as inssurectionists inspired and learned from each other across borders, I'd imagine lessons were drawn in many capitols from Jan 6th on how to respond.

There are, obviously, some key differences but the reaction of the Brazilian police on Sunday compared to the US on Jan 6 was far more firm, efficient and impressive. twitter.com/davidrkadler/s…

So after the Israeli flag appeared among insurrectionists on Jan 6th, it seems to have been among the crowd of insurrectionists in Brazil yesterday. Apparently Bolsanaro's wife wore a shirt with the Israeli flag on it while voting.

The more one reads about this case the more absurd it becomes. An egregious case that has nothing to do with emancipation, just reifying a conservative interpretation of tradition by a corporation at the expense of adjunct via

The 's Jack Hughes is not just a legit all star, it is time to put him in the MVP conversation with the way he has played this season. Name the players that mean more to their team right now than him? It has to be a short list.

Some of you are watching C-Span on a Friday night. I'd understand that if historic legislation was on the cusp of passing, but for this? I'd rather watch paint dry.

Harvard's refusal to approve Kenneth Roth's fellowship is troubling from both a human rights and academic freedom standpoint. Scholars should not be judged on whether they please powerful political interests. thenation.com/article/societ

If a Jewish American, who got into human rights work because of his parents fled the Nazis, & ran a Human Rights org for 3 decades, which issued 1000s of HR reports, the vast majority had nothing to do with Israel, can't criticize Israeli HR violations without career consequences

Former head of Human Rights Watch, @KenRoth, tells me how he was blocked from Harvard Kennedy School fellowship over criticisms of #Israel: "I falsely assumed that the dean of the Kennedy School values academic freedom." @HRW @Kennedy_School theguardian.com/education/2023

Ben Gvir literally glorified a terrorist who gunned down Palestinian worshipers as they prayed in a mosque and now he enters the Al Aqsa mosque compound with an armed escort and the problem is anyone concerned about it is overreacting?

Before the UNSC's emergency session on Ben-Gvir's holy site visit, #Israel's @giladerdan1 tells reporters: the "visit was in line with the status quo, and whoever claims otherwise is only inflaming the situation.”

So much for academic freedom at Harvard's : Dean Douglas Elmendorf was so fearful of 's reporting on Israel (applying the same standards as HRW does everywhere else) that he vetoed a fellowship that the Kennedy offered me.
