Rather pathetic that they stayed enslaved approx 1 yr, 2 mos after the Civil War was over; more than 3 yrs after the Emancipation proclamation. It’s an embarrassment that they didn’t rebel, slaughter their erstwhile masters & free themselves.

There were rebellions, also the north was losing until they recruited black soldiers. To a degree we freed ourselves.

Of course there were Black Union troops; ⅓ of the Union Army was Black by the end of the War. Many Blacks escaped slavery and joined up to fight against it. That’s commendable. Some rebelled; there just weren’t enough. Even now, we’ve righteous Brothers who TCB, but not enough.

Until all Americans can sincerely celebrate this as a national holiday because the end of slavery was for the good of all Americans and the nation as a whole, the soul of America will continue to be tainted. American slavery should have ended in 1776.

It is our national shame that slavery continued (at least) 89 years longer than it should have.

It still exists in the country. Not legally recognized.

Also, there were still over 1 million enslaved otherwise before the Thirteenth Amendment was passed.

At yet, white slavery is never talked about. It's always swept under the rug like hidden lies.

First off, I'm male. Second, you're ignoring the suffering of others to fit your agenda. The Scottish, Irish, Germans, Jews, and British were slaves. In fact, the Jews have been slaves longer than any other group. African slavery in US was 276 years, not 400. Jews suffered 1000+

You're delusional and disgusting. Who compares who was enslaved the most? Sounds about white.

I'm saying a lot more people are left out. It's not just black slavery, it's slavery in general. It's all horrible; why exclude other groups? They don't even cover it in history books. They barely speak about the Chinese slaves, also.
