I understand it as the dichotomy between those who have and those who don't. Capitalism would be an oxymoron if everybody had about the same amount of "capital".
I never get what defines "capitalism," in the colloquial sense. That money exists? That you can buy things? That you have to pay? That prices are "too high?" That someone is richer than you?
