The queen was introduced into Western chess. The original chaturanga predecessor was Mantri or Senapati, which is a counselor or general, that became the queen in chess along with modified moves. The raja remained king.
It's still called the counselor in Russian, only patzers call them queens. But you promote to Horses intead of Knights, so again one wonders
