At the end of the day we get rewarded for what is considered to be preferable behavior, does this mean that doing a good job is obsolete in our line of work? How did we get here?
People who actually try to do a good job tend to suffer when their responsibilities expand - the people who take it well tend to be the ones who don't really give a shit about anything except their status and career. Guess who burns out and who keeps getting promoted

Very sad and very true. But what is one to do? Do a good job while others get promoted despite inferior performance? Cave in to the pressure of being a full time politician and do a shitty job?
