Malice is stupidity, in my book. Not knowing how to get what we need and using violence to try to get it is about as dumb as it gets, if the goal is to get what we need in the long run. You know, burning bridges and such.

I disagree. Malice isn't stupidity. But stupidity (or really "being wrong") is a necessary component of evil. Much evil isn't malice at all. The worst kind isn't. Mao is a great example.
