Debugging complex bugs I sometimes found myself exhausted and starting to "try random shit". With experience I learned to break away from a problem before that point.
There's a fine line between "debugging" and "trying shit out." And the longer supposed debugging takes, the more likely it is to have never been debugging in the first place, but something deep in the "desperately try random shit in the hope it will suddenly work" territory.
