Pressing people to disclose their political opinions should be condemned as political harassment and made socially unacceptable. Freedom from speech matters at least as much as freedom of speech - that's why totalitarian regimes never grant it, and why we have secret ballots.

Political progress halts if we can't discuss ideas. How did you not suggest just this?
I only said you should be able to opt out of the discussion, not that you can't opt in. Human reproduction halts if people can't have sex, yet sexual harassment is a thing.
