So the Russian greeting "be healthy!" implies Russians are sickly? As to the "peace" greeting, I imagine it might have been a sound driving attention to an honest peace signal, like a waving hand without a knife.
A culture valuing freedom isn't really free, and in this it's similar to a culture valuing unity, which in reality sorely lacks unity. But they're still very different cultures. "Values" are but lies for behavior to regress towards the mean from, but the starting point matters.
