Visitors entering Yosemite via Hwy 120 from the west can reach Hodgdon Mdw and Hetch Hetchy, but not other areas of the park (including Yosemite Valley). From Yosemite Valley, visitors can drive up the Big Oak Flat Rd to reach the Tuolumne & Merced Groves of Giant Sequoias. 2/4

Big Oak Flat Road (continuation of Hwy 120 west into Yosemite) is closed from just inside the park boundary to Merced Grove. The road will be closed at least until mid-June and possibly into July. We are working with the Federal Highway Administration to start repairs ASAP. 1/4

Trails to the Tuolumne and Merced Groves are also covered in several feet of snow. Wear waterproof boots and traction devices as even plowed paths can be icy. Hiking on snow-covered trails is not recommended. 5/5

The only access to the Mariposa Grove is via a four-mile round-trip hike with 500 feet of elevation gain/loss. If you attempt to travel beyond the end of the plowed road, expect several feet of snow. 4/5
