Me: What could apple possible include to make their AR glasses thing worthwhile
Apple: We're going to make it so you can be in a zoom meeting with a deepfake video of you that talks when you do so people think they can see you but they actually can't
Me: ... TAKE MY MONEY
Conversation
The absolute worst part of zoom work meetings is sitting there in front of that little webcam listening to something boring while worrying about if it looked weird that I just scratched my eyebrow or if they can see that I'm looking down at my phone off camera

It’s generative 3D environments and games, which just became possible. They totally failed in uninspired apps as usual. They’re showing last decade’s tech ideas to showcase their product.

I'm impressed so far with #vibecamp; it really has successfully cultivated a nice vibe. Its not a public park, party, or amusement park. And its not a conference. It is somewhere nicely chill between.

As a quantitative social scientist at @NuffieldCollege, I heartily oppose this very limited, pernicious argument. There is room in our world for many ways of thinking. And not every degree or job should be valued by its earnings potential. Oh, and FWIW I was a history grad.

Remembering a girl I used to work with who didn’t believe in dinosaurs, not for religious reasons but bc “It’s just so silly…” Any time I tried to get her to elaborate, she’d be like “I mean…big monsters? Like…” and mime being a T-Rex until she was giggling too much to breathe
