    Some trash/recycling containers are blowing over in the wind. To prevent litter, no trash/recycling materials should be placed outside containers, all trash should be bagged, and carts should be placed by the roadside properly and on as level a surface as possible.

    Our Waste Management Div. has seen an increase in household trash being collected this week. Republic Services is working later each day to ensure all collections are complete. Please leave your containers at the road on your collection day until your trash is picked up.

    We are adding 2 new drive-thru sites today at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton and Military Circle in Norfolk. They will be open from 10am-2pm. We will keep these locations open on a day-by-day basis as supplies allow. Visit for location info.

    5 AM UPDATE: Winter Storm Warnings are now in effect for northeast NC and southeast VA. Snow totals have been increased within the warning area. We are still expecting the snow to begin late this afternoon and come to an end by early Friday morning.

    This class is a great way to get your child interested in tennis or to improve skills of current tennis players. Classes are held in the Dare Elementary School gym and begin Tuesday, Jan. 7.
