Like a year or two? Or like a month? Just a ballpark.
We will soon be opening access to the beta for all. Once the beta is available for everyone, we don't expect it to remain in beta for long. However, it somewhat depends on feedback.

Will it be a forced update? I'm three long years into a game, and probably gotta another year left. I'm not wanting to upgrade until after the game is done. Will there be any legacy download links available for my future collaborators?

It will not be a forced update and full access to the current 2.2 release will still be available to download
