@YoYoGames hi, I received an email to confirm my profile so that our Edu license can continue. Yet after having done so the login wants to upgrade GM only. Does it take time for “confirm” action to kick in?
You may need to update the version if you are below version 2.1.4. This would not have changed since our required confirmation.

Perhaps, but on a laptop you can bypass the update and continue to log on. Why can’t you do this on a desktop?
