Bumper has the biggest "GO" button of any tank player in OWL.
I think it's fair to say that what Barroi meant was that Bumper's playstyle wouldn't work in any other team. The teams he trialed for echoed similar sentiments before the season.

Yep, when I discussed main tank playstyles in the current meta with AKaros, one thing we agreed on (didn’t make it into the benchmob article) was that Runaway really funnels every single resource into Bumper and it SHOWS. Main tanks dream of being enabled like that.

Real statement on synergy and team play. Non-optimal player but given the right conditions can succeed. It would be interesting to see how many of those teams who passed on him have developed their MT well.
