The American Psychological Association pledges to abolish the "disease" of capitalism. If the goal of these institutions were to damage their public standing as much as possible, they could hardly do better than this.https://www.apa.org/monitor/2020/09/systemic-change …

There are some sensible suggestions here. But that nobody who read or edited this institutional announcement realized that perhaps some of the tens of thousands of members of the APA miight actually like capitalism, shows just how strong this academic monoculture is.

Yascha did you read this statement? It’s a thoughtful exploration of the insights and expertise the field of psychology can bring to the fight against racism and to improve police-community relations. When did you become a knee-jerk culture warrior?

When important social institutions like the APA started to pronounce, in the name of their members, that capitalism is a disease that needs to be eradicated.

You're right, so to fix this you have to give back every dollar you made under this "white supremacist capitalistic system" not just that but give up any properties you own, stocks, savings, degrees, 401k, cars, all this with interest. We're waiting.

They’ve just proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they’re first and foremost a political organisation and a Marxist one at that. Good riddance. Every self respecting psychologist needs to quit this train-wreck now.

Did you even read this? You’re taking a single line that mentions capitalism, in a well thought out piece about antiracism and inclusion, and changing the entire meaning.

The APA has essentially discredited itself after a long fight to have Psychology be accepted as an accredited scientific field. Press “F” to show respect

It is clear that the @APA is on the fast track to becoming a cult instead of advancing psychology.
