I should be used to deliberate misreadings by now but, no, saying you can pick one of these two does not mean that there are no other forms of anti-racism in the world (just as a menu that tells you to pick fries or salad does not deny the existence of onion rings).

Is Hamilton an effective program to overcome racial injustice in this country? Of course not. It's a musical. But it does encapsulate the spirit we need to build a just society much better than diAngelo: a recognition of our flaws alongside a commitment to our founding values.

Or you can pick the anti-racism of W E B DuBois and Cornell West. I know which I prefer.

The risible DiAngelo is turning into the favourite punching bag of white centrists while the far more radical Kendi and Coates are blessed with an aura of intellectual invincibility. Kinda proves DiAngelo's theory

...or maybe it's because Coates and Kendi are...I dunno...ACTUALLY BLACK and thus can speak to their own truths and experiences?!

Shockingly, Hamiton & White Fragility are not the only anti-racist media available. I've recently read The Wretched of the Earth, Personal Memoirs of US Grant, North of Slavery, & Broken Earth Trilogy. Thankfully, I didn't have to choose just one!
-
Hard agree on Broken Earth, and I might add Kindred (Butler) and The Ballad of Black Tom (Lavalle) as other excellent choices
