Another story: I had a Qatari student in my office wanting to transfer into my class—he was very angry at his current teacher, with his limited English he spat out the worse insult he could muster: She’s Jewish Lesbian!
I was commonly told to stop acting like a Jew when I was growing up. Asking questions is considered ‘acting Jewish’. “Why do you ask so many questions like the Jews?! Just shut your mouth and do as you’re told!”
I think this was to demonize the act of thinking critically so that ppl would be more eager to conform. If asking questions (ie thinking) is considered a Jewish trait, ppl would avoid it. The Quran is full of stories of Jews asking too many questions.
