The headline is misleading. Another doctor treated the child at the same facility. I agree that doctors should not refuse to treat based on beliefs. But refusal is not exclusively religious. I read the article-not just the headline. There is no legal recourse for that couple. What that doctor did is essentially legal. And that is unacceptable. Apparently it’s the same in 30 states.

I didn't imply any such thing. I commented on the headline of the article. I agree doctors should not refuse treatment. However this has to be universally applied. Also, in this case the doctor did not harm the patient, just offended them. Emergency services are different.
