2) Making faster processing times the metric at the IRB without coupling it to the need to verify identities and stories of asylum seekers through in person hearings is a big problem.

3) How can you verify the story of a person who has little in terms of personal identification without a robust process? 4) While some people from these countries are definitely fleeing persecution for legitimate reasons, how can we a) verify their stories (aka are they legitimately fleeing persecution) and b) ensure they don’t pose a security risk to Canada if we don’t have a robust process?

5) When IRB officials are told that their metric is cranking out files, they run risk of more YES decisions by default, because it takes hours and hours to document a NO decision, which will be appealed many times.
