"Christianity is bullshit, but it gave us human rights and Western values." Christianity didn't give us 'Western values.' Greek and other philosophers discussed ethics in greater detail. Christianity was a step backwards. The Enlightenment gave us these values, not the bible.

I don’t think it’s all or nothing. I think religions encompass both. We came up w some terrible stuff like “kill the nonbelievers” or “stone the gays” and also some decent stuff like “love thy neighbor” or “do unto others”. We can keep the good stuff and throw out the bad.
Religions are man-made anyway...so, still us regardless.And the good stuff came from human progress-that’s where credit is due. Not to any deities. I find the only issue w giving credit to religion is if ppl are saying WE didn’t come up w it-a higher power did. No. We did. Whether we came up w it in philosophy or religion.
