"Christianity is bullshit, but it gave us human rights and Western values." Christianity didn't give us 'Western values.' Greek and other philosophers discussed ethics in greater detail. Christianity was a step backwards. The Enlightenment gave us these values, not the bible.
Whether it was ppl in the Middle East or ppl in Greece. Bottom line: it was us. Humans. We came up w these values. Not some imaginary being in the sky. So even if ppl want to give credit to Judeo-Christian values 
Religions are man-made anyway...so, still us regardless.

Yes but some man-made ideas take us forward. And others take us back. Some try to give the credit for our progress to these bad ideas and slow down their death. They need to be called out. The sooner these ideas die, the faster we can move forward.

I don’t think it’s all or nothing. I think religions encompass both. We came up w some terrible stuff like “kill the nonbelievers” or “stone the gays” and also some decent stuff like “love thy neighbor” or “do unto others”. We can keep the good stuff and throw out the bad.

Interesting- how did we come up with these values? We’ve also come up with genocide, racism, slavery, and on and on, why have these not propogated as both equally deserving of the same stature of respect and value?
