A good analogy is the way that a doctor treats illness. A great doctor studies root causes, a mediocre one merely treats the symptoms and a weak one just asks patients how they feel.
I wonder what they want to do with all those "nazis" they see everywhere. If they think they cannot be convinced to change theirs minds or that they don't think they deserve that chance, what then?
Ok, but Socrates never wrote anything, and if this was a quote from Plato's corpus, it needs a Bekker citation. I see this quote all over the place, but even as a scholar of Plato, I can't find this anywhere in his works. A Google of the quote and Plato's name provides nothing.

Since minds are only present in people, then discussing ideas and events is discussing people. Socrates did not have the benefit of modern science to qualify his statement.
