Well I am Christian, and I'm pretty sure we could be friends.

Ppl assume, because I’m atheist, that I don’t like religious ppl. Au contraire! I have no issue w religious ppl in general. I don’t like assholes...and assholes come from all sorts of different backgrounds, including fellow atheists.

It's often assumed that atheists or agnostics don't like religious people. Islamic zealots push that falsehood (as do Christian ones). They forget that many of us come from religious families, have religious parents. We get the difference between people and dogma, good and bad.

Agreed but there also have been examples of Islamists quoting atheists back at liberal Muslims in seeming 'proof' of them being inauthentic. The big picture debate has moved on from 10-12 years ago, strictly belief/non belief, to now liberal vs illiberal values.

Good stuff! Thank you for this. I believe in Jesus, you're an atheist and our neighbors hold different beliefs. We're all in this life together. Disagreement coexists well with kindness, or no one would be friends. =)
