A few days ago I wanted to promote some ex-Muslim opinions on free speech (they are atheists like me). When I mentally went though the list of people I follow, I avoided people who I thought were too controversial. 1/?

Later that day I realized that every single one of the controversial people were women. Why is that? Was it my own internal bias? Or was it because ex-Muslim women are targeted more by people including westerners? Let’s correct that:

Both. We are attacked more, so it makes ppl wary, so they end up w a bias against us. Even if the attacks have zero merit, theyve served their purpose-to make ppl wary of us. Just like all the Islamophobia hoaxes-doesn’t matter that they’re not real-it’s seeped into public psyche
