The hate crimes are a reaction (but not nearly as severe, of course) to the crimes perpetrated by Muslims across the planet. Instead of looking to blame media, Occam’s razor would indicate it’s more likely the rape and terrorism. Statistics show hate crimes against Muslims increased after 9/11, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out why. If we ask criminals why they hurt an innocent Muslim, the response won’t be ‘because I don’t see them represented in media enough’. The issue is hate on both sides
Like you said, we acknowledge the hate in the West and actively fight against it. Muslims need to acknowledge the hate in their world and fight against it as well—rather than look for any other random nonsensical thing to blame.
