The hate crimes are a reaction (but not nearly as severe, of course) to the crimes perpetrated by Muslims across the planet. Instead of looking to blame media, Occam’s razor would indicate it’s more likely the rape and terrorism. We shouldn't punch Nazis. Their speech is protected and the right to practice Islam is protected. We aren't going to save liberalism by abandoning it. We aren't going to defeat regressive Islam by spray painting mosques or by absolving those who did the vandalism.
Obviously not. And we won’t defeat it by having it more represented in the media either. We will defeat it if we acknowledge the root of the problem: Islam. Either reform it or abandon it.
