The hate crimes are a reaction (but not nearly as severe, of course) to the crimes perpetrated by Muslims across the planet. Instead of looking to blame media, Occam’s razor would indicate it’s more likely the rape and terrorism. Address the action, and the reaction will stop.https://twitter.com/rowaida_abdel/status/823559989952450560 …

Weird how nobody worries about how coverage of "Israel" and "Zionists" perpetuates antisemitism, which happens at a distinctly higher rate than Islamophobia

So many groups complain that they’re underrepresented in media, yet none of them are victims of hate crimes. In contrast, Jews are highly represented in media, yet they’re the #1 victims. The correlation she made is simply stupid.

Anti-semitism is almost as old as civilization itself. "Islamophobia" in the popular sense didn't really make a lot of waves in the US until after 9/11, and there's still a lot less of it than anti-semitism, which tells you something, given what happened.

But if policies of Israel and "Zionists" are legitimate topics of debate (I think they are) antisemitism aside, so should be religious doctrines, their interpretations, and their connections to terrorism where specific connections exist. We can be very specific here.

Wahabiism yes, the Ahamdis no. Again, examining specific doctrines show exactly where and how this happens. If we want to stop irrational hear of peaceful Muslims, nothing would better serve us than defeating the epistemology of the violent minority.

That would require an honest conversation. I hope ppl will be open and willing to have those conversations soon because places in Europe are just ticking time bombs. The far right is rising and they will eventually react.
