Could you tell me why westerners in general don't now the difference behind those verses? And of course the term abrogation? That would help the discussion so much here in The Netherlands.
Abrogation is, of course, the real wrench in this plan. I think, although Islam is the second largest religion on the planet, most ppl in the West are generally unfamiliar w its teachings.
I'm I correct in saying that abrogation is an integral part off the differences between the Mecan and Medina verses. And do you have tips for me to tell my friends, how to explain abrogation? Thx! And keep up the good work.
Sometimes Mohammed would quote a verse that contradicted what he said before-ppl were confused. So he said: If a verse contradicts something that was said earlier, then follow the most recent revelation. Unfortunately that nullifies all the nice Mecca stuff since Medina was later
Thx! Going go translate that into Dutch and tell my friends. But is it true that The quran is unchangable? It's the litteral word from god, just like ancient arabic? And if that is true, is an "reformation" even possible without changing the Quran?
They *think* it is unchanged (because the Quran tells them so) but there is evidence that there were about 22 different versions of the Quran (this one was chosen and the others were burned). Reformation is not possible without ignoring many teachings from the Quran and Hadith.
