The person who wrote that ultra-feminist blog post attacking the Prophet sws writes elsewhere about being abused for years, apparently by her father. I don’t say that excuses it but it’s another example of how Muslims’ evil behavior can push people away from Islam.

I have a good friend that was able to talk to Omar Muzaffar who serves as a counselor for Muslims in one of the Chicago universities. He said the lion's share of people becoming disenchanted with Islam is not due to any of its doctrines - rather, they were seriously abused...

Do you think Muslims are abused more than other ppl? What about exChristians etc? Do they leave their religions because of abuse too? Or is it only Muslims that are systematically abused enough that it causes them to lose their faith? What do you think is the source of the abuse?

I know some people just follow their intellect out of religious beliefs (I did, I was raised a Christian). But I do think the sort of abuse you suffered (or victims of abuse by priests, etc) causes disillusionment. The source of the abuse is the evil character of the abuser.

Well, nice effort at assuming the intent of my actions, but you know what they say about assumptions... I left Islam after taking a History of Religions course in university. The historical evidence that Islam (and all religions) is bullshit is what made me an atheist. Thanks.

Sorry I was defensive-I get a lot of ppl being dismissive of my experience by saying ‘it was just her abusive family, not Islam’. My family had nothing to do w my decision. Even w perfect parents, Islam is still irrational. Thank you for your patience and understanding
