Yes, you’re right. Just like thirty years ago it was common to hear hate against gay ppl in Churches. Ppl still attended. Those that didn’t like it just ignored it, I guess. They were too scared to be a lone voice. But eventually when enough voices rose up, things changed /1
The main difference is that Muslim voices that rise up in the same vein are called Uncle Toms, told they’re doing it for money, and put on hate lists by the @splcenter /2
