After 10 yrs of sweeping this issue under the carpet because of fear of being called racist, and 10 yrs of us being forced to move away, my govt finally reacted with laws that properly regulate the property purchases of foreign buyers. Thats all we want. Proper regulation. /2

I should add that the problem didn’t magically disappear now that there are proper regulations. The damage is done. All we were able to do was prevent it from continuing/getting worse. /3

They don't need to be foreign, where I'm from many country villages & small towns have seen their property prices rocket, due to rich Londoners buying weekend holiday homes

I didn’t say they need to be foreign. I’m explaining my situation. However the fact that they ARE foreign is what prevented our govt from reacting for so long—fear of being called racist.
