Wrong. FGM is not really mandated by the Islamic faith, though male circumcision is. Male circumcision is fundamental to the Jewish faith. Governments have tried to ban it before. Judaism survived and thrived by keeping to its beliefs not by giving them up. Story of Chanukah.

No. Make circumcision is not the same as FGM. For starters, FGM has the word mutilation in it. Make circumcision does not mutilate. Research shows it has health benefits, and is never performed for the purpose of eliminating sexual pleasure and the person's dignity.

I don't want to defend circumcision, but man, I hate to hear anyone equate it to female genital mutilation. if you believe intentions matter, they're just not comparable.

- Intentions do not matter, if Jews considered FGM part of their religion it wouldn't make it OK. - That said...circumcision is analogous to cutting of the labia, not FGM which involves cutting off of the clitoris to remove sexual sensation.
