I think you’re right Yasmine. Some liberals are misinformed or scared of being labelled Islamophobic. However, there’s also a lot of “it’s the brown girl’s problem” which is then translated into “I do not wish to impose my western cultural values”.
Wow. This was brilliant-every word is so valuable in the service of clarifying this issue.
However, I don’t agree w Amina that liberals/left don’t care. I think they’re misinformed and scared. But more of this will help change that.

Ya, that’s true too, unfortunately. I was the recepient of that. As Nick says in the documentary, it leads to brown girls in the West being ignored as they’re forced to endure atrocities that would never be acceptable if inflicted on a white girl...essentially, racism.

@Amina_Lone is absolutely right. The Far Left (now mainstream@UKLabour under Jeremy Corbyn) are anti-Western. Islamists are anti-Western. So Left support groups like@mendcommunity who attack@TellMamaUK -
I mean...I’m sure there are plenty that don’t care, don’t get me wrong, but I think the majority are more likely ignorant vs apathetic. Maybe I’m giving them too much credit, but that’s my sense.

I've never heard such a confused narrative. Let me distil the 'argument': Islamic extremism is the fault of Jeremy Corbyn - no surprise to readers of Cohen's woeful column. I could hear the sound of entirely unconnected facts being shoehorned in to fit a hypothesis.

The left may care in a general sense, but the problem is that they care much more about co-opting the votes of Muslim groups. With this aim, their chosen role as defenders against islamophobia promotes self censorship against criticising those groups.
