Before ideas are accepted or rejected, they need to be heard. Apparently, some decided that they needed to be a filter for the ears and minds of others. I'm doing an "interfaith" show later in the spring. Talking about the religious and atheists sharing stages, and ideas.

Basically, they want you to dump on Arab Islam whilst ignoring their ethno-religious sensitivities, so that they can affirm their prejudices.

Shame on that synagogue. I’m so disappointed with them. Synagogue is neither a temple nor a church. It’s literally “house of gathering”. And it implies people can come and speak there. :-/

Phrasing might help. Saying 'cancelled' conveys that they'd already agreed to hear you. Many people, like me, comment without knowing the entire backstory.

Yasmine, sometimes the assumption is weird because they are not, in fact, making it. Haters pretend they think something just to muddy the waters, then pretend others think so too.
