      1. they want women to be as invisible as possible. It is more modest to be completely invisible. There is a religious rule that says all of the woman body is "Awrah" google it. means something that must be hidden and covered.

      This is why Secularism is so important. Your mom was able to think for herself and be free to do what she wanted because the religious rules were not mandated by the government.
