I think you have such an interesting perspective on all of this. I certainly respect the rights of women who genuinely desire to wear a hijab, but I do think it's strange how obsessed some westerners are with forcing the hijab to be a symbol of freedom and empowerment.

It is as if in their desire to champion the hijab they insult Muslim culture by reducing it to a single symbol that is not viewed the same by all Muslims.

We had an influx of Sikhs & Hindus starting back in the 70’s. Why weren’t they coddled like the muslims? If someone makes fun of a guy’s turban, why isn’t it called sikhophobia? Why are muslims special brown people?
