I agree, at this point ignorance isn’t an excuse. My attitude has always been: I shouldn’t know someone else’s religion better than they do. If I know that Muhammad was a warmonger with pedophilic tendencies, his followers have no excuse not to know that about him.

My nonMuslim followers know way more about this religion than the average Muslim does. I love it. I find arguing w Muslims so mind-numbingly boring, so it’s great that ppl do it for me. And it’s extra embarrassing when a never-Muslim person does it

but honestly would pushing people to read their holy texts do anything good? at least in the short period. while for this we have an increase of atheists at the same time the muslim world is having a steady increase of extremists too.
-
Well ya, those are the typical avenues: Jihadi or atheist. But yes, I will always encourage ppl to educate themselves. Knowledge is power. Even Allah agrees, that’s why the first word revealed to Muhammad was ‘read’

Unless they read it critically, it won't help. It's the same problem xtian fundies have.

Have you read the Quran? It’s pretty shallow. It’s not all deep and metaphorical like the Bible.

This is true, but it’s still no excuse. They can still pick up *one* book and read it. It’s not that difficult.
