She left out the party switch that happened after a Democratic President, Lyndon Johnson sided with those wanting civil rights for blacks. It's a long story, but in essence the progressive Repub became the new Democrats and the Democrats/Dixiecrats became new Republicans..

Look at it this way. Why is it that those who want to keep the Confederate Flag flying high are always Republicans. This is flag that the "Democrats" fought under in the Civil war and then used during their efforts to keep segregation. Why flight for flag of the other side?
