Is this seriously an Arab tradition? How is it that I just seen this, and I am my self Arabic and been to many Arabic marriages but never seen this happen. So I'm like a little shocked that this is in our culture.

Where are you from? A lot of countries are considered Arab Also, this is old. If you grew up in a big city, you likely wouldn’t have seen it. It’s only done in the more rural areas now. I’ve seen it done jokingly, so I know of it, but I’ve never witnessed it seriously like that

Disgusting. The "man" displaying pride that he made a woman bleed. A considerate lover would have tried to reduce her discomfort.

The idea is to prove that she was a virgin. Theoretically, if she’s a virgin, she’ll bleed when her hymen is broken.

Completely agree with you. Outside of self defense, there is never a valid reason to assault someone. Religious beliefs should not be used to justify violence. What a way to start a marriage.

This isn't religious belief more like cultural I have been to so many Islamic marriages never came across slapping his wife on his marriage day.

It’s an old tradition, yes. It’s not done so much in the bigger cities anymore, but it still happens.
