Some Gulf countries do give citizenship but you must first convert (and know the right people). Imagine the outrage if Western countries asked people to give up their religion as a condition for citizenship.

Knowing what we know about Islam in general, the negative effects of an increasing Muslim population on western societies, the increase gay/jew/free speech hatred/misogyny/FGM/etc with increased Muslim immigration. Why wld any country want immigrants from Muslim maj. countries?

I don't think that people thought they would have to give up Western values such as free speech, freedom to criticise religious ideas, just because they had compassion on refugees. Who would have thought that it would become a way of suppressing the host population?
