In France there has recently been a controversy over this very same word because it was given as first name to a baby. People who voiced their dismay were called islamophobic and racist morons. Same old.
Ridiculous. Like if someone named their kid Hitler, ppl would scream racism and Naziphobia. Words have connotations. Those ppl are laughing at how easy it is to deceive, you know. Infuriating.
